Matron Records is pleased to announce the release of ppoacher ppoacher & the Concrete Dragonfly, the debut album by local singer-songwriter ppoacher ppoacher, on July 14th with a special release show at form & concept gallery. ppoacher ppoacher is the solo project of Caitlin Brothers, a SFUAD graduate and all around accomplished musician with such eclectic projects under her belt as Storming the Beaches With Logos In Hand, Loretta's Got A Stargun and Bedlambs. As both a multi-instrumentalist and accomplished vocalist, Brothers' highly distinct songwriting style is marked by congenial contrasts: passionate & playful, calculated & relaxed, approachable & quirky. This push and pull of dynamic delights is at the center of this debut, highlighting Brother's multifarious talents through well-crafted and intimate songs on banjo that make the listener cry and laugh in equal measure.
Recorded live in October 2016 at the spellbinding Dwan Light Sanctuary at United World College in Las Vegas, NM, ppoacher ppoacher & the Concrete Dragonfly is infused with the shimmering acoustics of this magical space which is known best for it’s floor to ceiling prisms that cast shifting rainbows throughout the space. To capture the colorful ambiance, Matron Records once again teamed-up with local filmmakers Charles-Austin Ross and Amy West (of Brownhouse and Wombox Productions respectively) to film the recording process. The result is a “secret online show” which will be released alongside the record and available only to those with a special password given out at the release show and spread word-of-mouth.
ppoacher ppoacher & the Concrete Dragonfly was recorded live by Dave Badstubner, James Lutz, Nicholas Quintero and Taressa Martinez, mixed by Dave Badstubner and mastered by Will Dyar of Hills Audio in Santa Fe, NM. Album art, illustration and design by Eliza Lutz. The album release show at form & concept features performances from ppoacher ppoacher, Seal Eggs (vocal and harp loops creating slowly unfolding ambient textures, from Colorado Springs, CO) and Leticia Gonzales (local musician and poet performing old New Mexican and Balkan folk songs and original poetry). form & concept will ask for a $5 donation at the door in support of Matron Records and the featured performers.
